Lauching event and engagement activities

The OceanSchool project, a pioneering educational initiative in Blue Growth developed by Nova SBE and NHH, recently launched its program with two dynamic activities aimed at integrating students and fostering discussions on sustainable marine economy.

Program Presentation & Research Workshop (31 de agosto de 2023): Coinciding with Nova SBE’s Welcome Reception Week, this event introduced the OceanSchool project’s goals, key activities, and multidisciplinary team. Students attended a pitch presentation covering project goals, research themes, and a discussion of blue growth topics. This session included talks on research projects, such as sustainable mangrove management and marine spatial planning, providing insights into real-world applications of blue economy principles. The session served as a practical introduction for students into the core themes of OceanSchool, combining economics, natural sciences, and public policy.
Discovery Week: During Discovery Week, the OceanSchool team hosted an interactive booth to deepen students’ understanding of blue growth. The booth introduced the "Impossible Drawings" activity, an engaging gamified experience where students drew their vision of sustainable ocean management using post-it notes. This exercise encouraged students to consider the interconnected economic, social, and environmental factors of marine management. Designed as an icebreaker, this activity fostered conversations around innovative approaches to marine sustainability, embodying OceanSchool’s emphasis on applied research and interdisciplinary collaboration.

These events marked an engaging start for OceanSchool, allowing students to actively explore marine sustainability issues while connecting with peers, faculty, and project representatives.

OceanSchool Closing Event
Following the conclusion of the OceanSchool Project, a targeted closing event coincided with the end of the Summer School, creating an ideal setting to discuss project achievements, future plans, and to launch a fundraising campaign. This strategic event engaged key stakeholders and introduced OceanSchool’s ongoing impact to potential donors.

Additionally, a comprehensive brochure consolidating students’ research work and scientific contributions was developed. Serving both research and outreach goals, this brochure, along with tailored presentations, supports future fundraising efforts and showcases OceanSchool’s innovative role in advancing sustainable marine practices.
